Maybe I suay, opened twice both time get problems.
First was SCB, opened with my friend, his approved, mine no news. Called them and they told me none of the branch managers at that roadshow received my application. Made some noise and say my friend's approved, they better trace which branch he applied for and ask them where is my application? Don't like the idea of losing my photocopied IC. Few weeks later, someone deposited $1 to create that account for me -_-"
Second was CB, came to my company for roadshow to open the step up account, cos heard 2% if got more than 20k inside. Think this is better than fixed-d rates. After one month of waiting, enquiring, they still having problems processing, when their branch manager promised 2 working days. Finally cancelled the application cos the interest rate dropped to 1.2% and really tired of waiting liao..
roadshows those part-timer kids are desperate for their comm so they ask people to actively sign up w/o proper screening or explain details clearly...
many times the forms are misplaced, mixed-up, sent to wrong depts, information not complete/accurate (thus rejected)
that's why i don't really like to sign up at roadshows...
hmm.. they really look professional, guess looks are deceiving...
Deposit wise, i'm not very sure but for credit cards and credit lines, signing up during roadshows is faster and has a higher chance of success as the sales personnel only gets commission if your application is approved.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contest theory: More entries = More chances - Concept of Probability. not very useful but not too bad.....

Forgot to add, normally as what fireice mention above, when the card is approved ... the banks normally send you the card together with some vouchers...some might be useful ...some might be crap... it all depends.

i always get vouchers for this and that but sometimes i would leave them there and 4got about them until they expire
sometimes the offerings are quite crappy (imo)

my favourites are shopping and dining vouchers
Likewise...i prefer the dining vouchers... the rest are like .... errr especially those hair salon vouchers stuff... hair short short style for what? :S

Again, opening of accounts is subject to KYC requirements (As usual), like checking your credit history, AML yadda yadda... which is done during the processing and not up front. If this had happened to 2 banks, I think you'd better check. (do you have any issues opening normal current/saving accounts as well?)
But seriously, even if you had submitted the application (and not had the account opened), technically you are still contracted for the 'promo' rate yah? Just pester them till they give you the better rate la...
P.S> FI here again to become a mod ah? =p
My credit history should be ok bah... if i never made late payment, will i get a bad credit rating because they never get to earn the 24% interest from me? -_-"
Axelance,
You should be doing just fine. No late payment. That's very good. Keep it up. If anyting, your credit rating must be looking good.
You only get a bad credit rating when you constantly default on payment, unable to pay your debt and so on.
Just for your info, our partner, Credit Bureau of Singapore, will be coming out with a credit scoring system later this year, whereby you are able to see your credit score like they do on in the US.

Thats a good idea with the credit score. At least we know where we stand. Any ways to improve the credit rating or score??

individuals can get access to this credit scoring system?
Is it free? Because from what I understand, if you want to check your current credit ratings, you will need to pay a fee?

Nope. If I'm not wrong, the credit ratings service will be for a chargeable fee. But a small one.
