I have been rejected twice even though:
They kept replying that they cannot reveal the reason. Is there a way to get the card? Can someone from the bank help?
i'm more or less in the same plight as you....but i do have a black mark in the past where SCB issued me writ of summons in 2003 as i was out of job, but i managed to pay of the full amt & closed the acct. Till now none of the banks gives me any credit card except AMEX. Both the banks or MAS would not care to explain.
usually banks would not disclose the reasons why they rejected your applications.
That time when I first applied for my UOB One Card, the bank officer called me to inform me that my application was rejected. However, when I asked for the reason, he said that it is a company policy that they are not allowed to disclose the reasons.
My card application for MayBank was rejected as well.
Usually banks do not reveal why they reject your card application.
But you can always submit an appeal for them to review again I think. Sometimes it could simply be due to non-submission of relevant docs / wrong indication of your office direct line / that you overlooked to pay or shortpaid for existing credit card bills
I think banks should at least give the reasons why the applications are rejected (provided oneself have good records). If it is just a matter of insufficent documents, at least we know where gone wrong instead of us keep wondering why. It is sometimes the arrogant behaviour of banks that I stop using their credit cards altogether.
