I don't mind that...but in my working area, working OT doesn't give OT pay...that really sux...

I think it's a reasonable idea.  Work-hours are still the same, so productivity isn't compromised.

That said, this scheme doesn't fits to all kind of jobs (e.g. certain units in army, police) . Still, it's a flexible job plan worth considering.

so isit ministry of manpower or ministry of transport or ministry of community development or ministry of health or NEA or ministry of foreign affairs or the treasury or PMO should be taking this up?

Actually this can be at the discretion of the employers.

At least, this can be something we will consider at Qotion.

If the ministry can support the idea, I'm sure many will take it up. After all, in 2006, some companies have offered flexible working hours to accomodate for the late sleepers who watch the World Cup.

In times of rising oil price (and ERP!!), this can be something to consider. At least, this is something that is happening in the US already.

actually i think it depends very much on the kind of industry. If working in aviation industry, working 10hours straight can be very stressful and demanding...imagine those air traffic controllers...although they work for 2 hours and rest for 2 hours, but 10 hours a day can be very demanding for them...

So, ultimately, it's up to individual industries..

Might not work in Singapore coz they can already squeeze you to work extra hours each day AND still get you to work 5 days a week..or even 6 or 7 days...

yup...aiyah...but for me, i can't leave......hmmmm.....lol

HAHA, you can one... although their approval for you to leave takes donny years... When i submitted my resignation from Navy, they only approve it after 6 months... :S and now with lack of manpower everywhere in the SAF... u got to wait lagi long lor...

My advice, take up something while you are still inside be it a degree, masters or Doctorate. At least when you come out in the future (if you do) you will stand a fighting chance outside...

yup...probably taking a part time degree in finance, but have not decided which aspect of finance to go into...
in the meantime, i am saving for my degree course....

Well there are alot of private schools offering financial degree courses, better to do your homework now and start early. the longer you wait the higher the opportunity cost. You lose out in terms of time, i understand SAF is a rather comfort zone and quite hard to be proactive... but for your future u got to do it. I didn't use my time well now i regret so i advise others do make full use of the time available.

Theres installment plans for the degree programs, generally by the time u finish your degree you should be either completed paying the course fees or almost finishing.

Do bear that in mind.
