It's official! Recession has finally begun here in Singapore (although many say that it has already crept in silently much before)
SINGAPORE (AFP) - Oct 10 - Singapore's trade-sensitive economy has declined for a second straight quarter, the government said Friday, meaning the city-state has entered a recession for the first time in six years.
SINGAPORE, Oct 9 - Singapore's labour chief said on Thursday retrenchments and wage cuts in the city-state are likely if the global downturn continues, state television reported on its website.
So far, it hasn't hit home, we're not changing our lifestyle habits yet, but with all the negative press, pple read it and get scared, and thus there's a lot of panic reactions. Productivity-wise, employees either work very hard to keep their jobs & retrenchment at bay, or adopt heck-care attitudes coz they are resigned to their fate, thinking it's a lull period anyway (first-hand experience, I have friends in the related sector telling me that)
Recession = Does it mean that prices (e.g. necessities, fuel etc) will come down? Or still on an uphill climb?
i don't feel a thing leh.....
neither do i...
although the news report everyday is about the global financial crisis, but everything seems fine over here...
Theres a delayed effect...Now we may not feel it yet...come 2009, things will get even worse.
