You can do a comparison here:

http://www.moh.gov.sg/mohcorp/hcfinancing.aspx?id=342

Note that for the comparison table, NTUC has since revised their premiums upwards.

Base on the link given, AIA got the worst claim return rate! Wonder if people do consider the claim return rate or the comparison table? Or even the contracts.

I am currently under NTUC Income's old shieldplan with Plus Rider.
Seems quite good for me...although i have yet to claim anything yet (and I hope not to!!)

previously switched over from AIA...coverage is not as conducive as NTUC and it is much more expensive...

I'm holding AIA Gold prestiage and together with Pink of health. they give each other discounts and cover different aspects... so if i drop AIA Gold prestiage and jump...my pink of health wont have any discounts liao... dun make much sense if i jump right. Furthermore Medishield plans are paid via Medisave so...to me not really a big deal.

I previously also have the shield plan from AIA with POH.
However, after I switch over to NTUC Incomeshield, i forgot to terminate the POH and it is now left dangling there...gotta terminate it soon...

Deathsender, the AIA prestige Gold is not an as charged plan should you decide to stay in a private hospital.
The sub-limits will apply.

Hi

As long as its not as charged, in the event of claims, there is a chance that you may have to fork out more money. Not forgetting the 20% co-insurance.

All the other insurers are currently at 'as-charged' as well as 10% co-insurance except AIA.

Just to take note that although you get to save on the premiums for children, your children
are entitled to only Class A ward in restructured hospital.
I was just at the A&E at Changi over the weekend due to relative admitting to hospital. Took 3-4 hours before he manage to get a bed to rest.
One main concern is that would parents subject their children to such a long waiting period should their children need to be hospitalised (eg, children with fever), or would they have more peace of mind if their children are free to go to any private hospital as well with a much shorter waiting period.

I am not sure about that...but the Shield Plan (can't remember the name of the plan, but it was the lower class of plan) that I had from AIA was not an "As Charged" plan and the premiums are higher.

Compared to NTUC IncomeShield, i took the highest class plan and the premiums are quite cheap, plus it is an "As Charged" plan.

If i were to upgrade my AIA plan, the premiums are quite high...

i heard that there are actually some people who do not like Aviva's product as there is no agent to service you when you need them?
Is that true?

Not quite true.

It really depends on who you buy from. Even if you purchase from an AIA agent and he/she is no longer around, there might not be anyone for you to followup with.

Most if not all IFA agents will be able to provide you with Aviva products and service you later. The level of service will ultimately depend on the particular agent.

In any case, most medical claims (gov hosp) can be settled directly with the hospital.

hmm...actually after looking around for some time, i realise that there aren't much differences between the different shield plans in terms of coverage.
The thing to compare would probably be the premiums and the deductables plus co-insurance. I guess these are the main things to look out for when shopping for shield plan.

just my 2 cents.

Hi qwerty

You are right
Manulife agent can only sell aviva shield plan

But having said that, it doesnt mean that Aviva's shield plan is not the best product.

Like i mention a lot of time, there is no best product but people select based on the extra features tag to each medishield plan.

Its like buying a chicken chop selecting which of the sauce that comes along with it, be it, curry, sweet and sour, lemon, black pepper and brown sauce.

Personally I like the NTUC due to the deductible rider.
