Save up and wait for opportunity to invest in potential investments.
Stuff like fixed deposits in Singapore gives only a pathetic interest and other smaller lower risk investment isn't giving a good return either and after the financial crisis, it seems like these lower risk ones aren't that low risk after all.
Have the same thinking as choonseng. But I intend to invest in a hdb resale flat when the price is right. I am not too comfortable putting too much into equities, too much volatility. I think bricks and mortar is better for me. Hope the rental received can help offset some living expenses. Have tried investing in equities, funds, unit trusts, t-bonds & bills, fds, etc. but don't quite like them all.
Anyway, I still keep my eyes open to other kinds of investments too. Anybody has any good lobangs? Hahaha!
There is a common saying that markets are motivated by 2 things: greed and fear. All interactions in financial markets arise from a balance of these 2 emotions.
In the same manner, personal investing is a fine line treaded between these emotions. By being too safe, you are not maximizing returns and beating inflation. Be too risky, and you may end up with nothing. One strategy I heard about is to be greedy when others are afraid and quit when others are greedy.
...Is there any sense to that?
